Defeating Bali United 3-0, Persija Grabs The President Cup
Persija beat Bali United to Secure the President Cup

The First Title of Persija After 17 Years

With fully support of Jakmania and the governor as well, Persija succeded to beat Bali United 3-0 in the final match which was held at Gelora Bung Karno stadium on Saturday.

This win made Persija clinch the Indonesia’s President Cup after 17 years in waiting.   As we know, the last win of Persija occurred in 2001.

This win also becomes a revenge of Persija against Bali United as the club from the Goddess island had never lost to Persija during the period of 2017/18.

From the previous three matches, Bali United led by the former of national striker Widodo Cahyono Putro could win twice and made one draw.

Persija directly dominated the first half and could score twice through Marco Simic.

Entering the second half, Bali United gave an effort to equalize and Fadil Sausu was close to score. Nevertheless, Persija goal keeper Andritany Ardhyasa could secure it well.

The Coach Widodo started rotating his squad in 54’ by withdrawing Ahn Byung-keon to be substituted by Ahmad Agung. However, that effort seemed useless since Persija players kept striking.

The Coach Widodo again substituted his squad several minutes later by substituting Yabes Roni and Muhammad Taufiq by Miftahul Hamdi and Irfan Bachdim.

Unfortunately, two minutes after that substitution, Persija could score again through Novri Setiawan to make Persija lead by 3-0 and Persija could secure the win until the final whistle.
